Center Transportation Directorate (KAMAZ)

The Central Transport Directorate, established in 1981 (1360 in the Islamic calendar), is the only Emirati transport institution in the country. It was founded based on the necessity and decision of the Council of Ministers of the then government, under the name KAMAZ 2-3-4 complexes, covering 414.6 acres of land under the Ministry of Transportation and Aviation in Qasaba-Kabul. The Directorate continued its activities until 1384.

In 2005 (1384), a decision by the Council of Ministers integrated the tenure of KAMAZ 2-3-4 and rebranded it as the Center of Transportation Activities. According to directive number 479 dated June 24, 2020 (9/2/1399), the presidency separated this tenure from the Ministry of Transportation and Aviation. Since then, the Directorate has been operating under the National Development Corporation. Till now, in collaboration with the private sector, transportation activities are conducted by approximately 270 vehicles in the ports and provinces, including Herat, Balkh, Kabul, and others.
