Inauguration of the Tori dam project: on 5/7/1403, the Tori dam in Zabul province was inaugurated and exploited with the participation of the economic deputy to the Prime Minister of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the officials of the Ministry of Water and Energy, the officials of the National Development Corporation, local officials and special guests. This dam is located 2 km away from Qalat city, the center of Zabul province, and its proprietor is the honorable Ministry of Water and Energy. The construction work of the Tori dam, which includes the main dam, powerhouse, service, and emergency tower, was started on 9/8/1401 by the National Development Corporation and completed on 31/6/1403. The purpose of the construction of the Tori Dam is to store monsoon water for irrigation of agricultural lands and feeding of underground water. It is worth mentioning that the height of this dam is 23 and it has a storage capacity of 2.9 million cubic meters of water, it has the capacity to irrigate 560 hectares of land and production of 61 kilowatts of electricity.
