Jabal Al Saraj Cement Factory
In 1957 (1337), Jabal Al Saraj Cement Factory was established as a joint stock corporation with an initial capital of 40 million Afghanis. In 1972 (1351), it transitioned into a government enterprise under the administration of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum.
Based on international cement production standards, the factory’s daily production capacity was 100 tons. Most of the equipment and technology were initially sourced from Czechoslovakia, and later from Germany, Russia, and other countries. Jabal Al Saraj Cement Factory was the primary cement supplier for numerous national projects, including the construction of water reserves, roads, government buildings, bridges, culverts, and factories. In its prime, the factory even exported cement to neighboring countries such as Iran and Pakistan.
However, during periods of political crises and insecurity, the factory’s production capacity was significantly affected. Consequently, based on Presidential Decree No. 28 dated 11/15/1398, the factory was merged into the National Development Corporation.
The National Development Corporation has since undertaken the modernization of equipment, technology, and work tools at Jabal Al Saraj Cement Factory. The aim is to meet the demands of domestic markets and resume cement exports to foreign countries.
